The Latvian company SIA Hawita Baltic is RHP Horticulture certified with its substrate raw material peat. The company received its RHP certificate during the IPM fair in Essen, Germany.
Based on research and inspections executed by the certification body, the company complies with the requirements as determined in the Product Certification Scheme of the RHP quality mark. With the certification of SIA Hawita Baltic a total of 76 certified companies worldwide now has joined RHP.
The company SIA Hawita Baltic, based in Latvia, is part of the Hawita Group. The Latvian production site has been there since 1996 and supplies its products worldwide. Simon Tabeling, Chief Executive Officer of SIA Hawita Baltic: “We produce our substrate raw material peat under the highest quality standards with state-of-the-art technology to be applied by substrate producers in products for professional growers and the hobby market.”
RHP certified peat complies with strict requirements to ensure the highest quality of the substrate raw material. Peat with the RHP quality mark is sourced from regularly inspected peatbogs. There are also strict transportation requirements to minimise contamination risks of the peat. These quality mark requirements provide more security of the quality and plant safety of the substrate raw material, especially in terms of human pathogens, plant diseases, nematodes, weeds and contaminants.
